TEAM INDIA ARRIVES.........
The Team India was accorded a warm homecoming on Wednesday morning that it would remember for the rest of the life.
The proud winners of the Twenty20 World Cup tournament were given a rousing welcome by the Mumbai fans, who had gathered at the airport in large numbers to catch a glimpse of their heroes.
A visibly-elated Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, along with the other team members, landed at the CSI Airport at around 8.15 am. They were welcomed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Deputy CM R R Patil and their Cabinet colleagues.
Senior NCP leader and the BCCI president Sharad Pawar was also present to greet the team. The team members arrived in Emirates Airlines flight EK-504.
The squad which defeated arch rivals Pakistan in Johannesburg on Monday to lift the trophy, are now being taken in an open-topped bus from the airport to Wankhede Stadium in south Mumbai, where a felicitation function for the players is going to be held by the cricket board.
The players’ felicitation function will be held at around 1030 hrs on the stadium lawns.
Meanwhile, the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is also learnt to have given an invitation to the Indian cricket's youth icons Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh to come to the National Capital, after they had expressed a desire to meet her during the conversation the former had with them on Monday night, after Team India's victory.
